Several base fabric weights are used according to the overall tent weight required - lightest weight possible for ease of transport or heavier duty fabrics for more rugged conditions of use.

Many coating types are also available dependent on the end use requirements - silicones for high tear strength, hardwearing polyurethane or lightweight acrylics.
